About Us

The Virginia Tech Locomotion Research Laboratory performs many facets of human gait research including slips and falls research to provide new scientific knowledge on the causes of and prevention of accidents involving human locomotion. The application of this research includes industrial safety, environmental design, and rehabilitation. The laboratory combines both human subject testing and computational modeling to investigate relationships between age-related biomechanical, physiological, and psychological changes and their ultimate effect on the processes of these accidents.
